The story — in my words
I wrote this one late at night when the only sound left in the room was the hum of a refrigerator and the rain hitting the glass. I was thinking about that specific, heavy tension when a bar shuts down—the sound of chairs scraping onto tables and that final, cold snap of the deadbolt. I wanted to capture a moment of high-stakes pride where two people are staring down the edge of a storm. The imagery of the wet leather and the dying neon was something I actually saw once outside a station in the rain. We cut this track to feel like that final warning from a wall clock, building up that pressure until you can practically feel the damp chill coming through the door. It’s about the fear of being 'number two' when the lights go out.
