The story — in my words
I wrote this song after a long night of staring at a coffee stain on my side table that I just couldn't bring myself to scrub away. It was a physical reminder of a conversation where I’d let my own anxieties masquerade as 'concern.' I realized I’d been trying to build a fence around the person I loved, thinking I was keeping them safe when I was actually just keeping them small. We cut this in one take with a single mic because I wanted that feeling of a quiet, late-night confession. It’s my way of saying that true love doesn't demand ownership; it just keeps the porch light on. I wanted to capture that shift from being the one holding the map to being the one waiting by the door.
