An Hour Late and A Dollar Short ©
by J. Michaels
The story — in my words
I wrote this song at a breaking point where I felt like the world was constantly moving three steps faster than I was. For years, I carried this heavy identity of being the guy who was always 'an hour late and a dollar short,' almost like I was cursed to just miss the boat every time. We cut this track to mirror that transition from frantic anxiety to total surrender. I remember sitting in the silence of my studio and realizing that the only way to get ahead was to stop chasing and start claiming my space. It's about that moment when you stop praying for a sign and start telling the universe exactly what you’re worth. It started as a lament about poverty and turned into my personal manifesto of abundance.
