The story — in my words

I wrote this one while I was finally coming up for air after a long season of feeling suffocated by someone else's expectations. There is a specific kind of exhaustion that comes from trying to fix problems that aren't actually yours to solve, and that's where the opening lines hit me. We tracked the guitars to feel heavy and grounded, matching that feeling of being pressed down, before the chorus just explodes. I wanted that shift to mirror the moment you realize you don't need permission to be yourself anymore. To me, this isn't just a breakup song; it's an autopsy of a power struggle. It’s about the exact second the guilt stops working and you realize the door was never actually locked—you just had to decide to kick it down.
