The story — in my words
I wrote this one on a Tuesday night in a tiny rental outside of Memphis, just watching the moths hit the porch light and feeling like I was stuck in a loop I didn't ask for. I’d spent way too many years trying to fix things that were fundamentally broken—relationships, old habits, you name it. We cut the track in a single afternoon with the amps turned up high enough to rattle the windows. I wanted that raw, overdriven sound to match that feeling of finally striking the match on your own history. It’s not about destruction for the sake of it; it’s about that moment of clarity when you realize you have to clear the brush before anything new can grow. It’s my way of saying goodbye to the versions of myself I don’t recognize anymore.
