The story — in my words

I wrote this one at three in the morning when the walls of my small town felt like they were closing in. I was sitting on the tailgate of my old Chevy, looking at a map and realizing that 'anywhere' sounded better than staying where I was. We cut the tracks in a dusty studio out in East Tennessee, and I told the band I wanted that driving rhythm to feel like tires humming on asphalt at midnight. It started as a song about a breakup, but as we tracked the vocals, it turned into something bigger—a desperate need to outrun the silence and find a version of myself that wasn't weighed down by old mistakes. It isn't just about leaving a place; it's about the terrifying, beautiful moment you finally decide to choose yourself over the noise.
