The story — in my words

I wrote this one at my kitchen table during a particularly bleak winter when it felt like the numbers on the screen were physically closing in on me. I was thinking about how debt isn't just a balance; it's a weight you carry in your hands, like those copper coins I mention. We cut the track in a space that had this cold, industrial echo to match the 'steel dust' I kept seeing in my head. I wanted to capture that 3 a.m. desperation where the hum of the fluorescent lights starts to sound like a threat. It’s for every person who has ever looked at a signed contract and felt their pride being choked out by a forest of signatures. We kept the grit in the vocal because you can't sing about burning the ledger with a clean conscience.
