Don't Want To Grow Up ©

The story — in my words

I wrote this on a Saturday morning while watching the neighborhood kids run through sprinklers without a single care in the world. I was feeling that heavy weight of 'adulting'—the bills, the deadlines, the way we're expected to trade our curiosity for a paycheck. I remember picking up my guitar and finding that bridge where I talk about the 'rainbow yell'; it’s that specific feeling of being so full of life you just have to make some noise. We cut this in a live session to keep that raw, unfiltered energy. It’s my personal protest against the clock. I really wanted to bottle that feeling of having grass stains on your knees and the sun on your face, reminding myself that getting older is mandatory, but growing up is totally optional.
