The story — in my words

I wrote this during one of those grey, endless Midwestern winters where the sun feels like a myth. I remember standing outside as the last few leaves turned brittle, feeling like my own spark was flickering out. I was physically cold, but my head was already halfway to the Pacific. To me, California wasn't just a place on a map; it was this holy, distant shore where the noise of the world finally shuts up. I even wrote that chapel scene from a real memory of sitting in a pew just to hear the silence. It’s a song for anyone who feels stuck in a 'living hell' of their own making, looking for that one wave that will finally wash the slate clean.
