The story — in my words

I wrote this song during a string of restless nights where every tick of the wall clock felt like a hammer hitting a nail. I was thinking a lot about how we treat death like this outside monster, when really, the 'reaper' is often just the anxiety we carry around in our own heads. We spend so much energy running from the inevitable that we forget to actually live. When I sat down with my guitar, that line about hell being something you carry in your heart just poured out of me. It shifted the whole perspective of the track from a horror story into a moment of defiance. We cut this with a driving rhythm because I wanted it to feel like a march toward that final curtain call—not with dread, but with a grin and a sense of completion.
