The story — in my words

I wrote this during a particularly grueling week out in the high desert, watching the heat distortion turn the horizon into something almost supernatural. I wanted to capture that feeling of being stripped down to your absolute essence—where the environment is so harsh that all the pretenses and 'false skin' we wear just melt away. We cut the vocals in a single take because I wanted that raw, cracking energy of a man at his limit. It’s not just about a desert; it’s about that internal furnace we all go through when we're trying to find what’s actually real beneath the surface. When I sing 'I am the fire, you are the chaff,' I’m talking about the necessary destruction that leads to a new beginning.
