The story — in my words

I wrote this one after walking through a neighborhood where every lawn was manicured to an inch of its life. It got me thinking about how much energy we all spend keeping up appearances. We spend our days performing for the world, wearing these 'picture perfect' smiles, but the moment that deadbolt clicks, we finally get to stop acting. I wanted to capture that shift from the 'uncut' reality of our private lives to the characters we play on the street. It’s not necessarily about something dark; sometimes it’s just about that quiet peace you find when you don't have to be 'on' for anybody else. We cut this track with a heavy, driving beat to mirror the weight of the secrets we carry every day.
