I Don't Wanna Wait ©
by J. Michaels
The story — in my words
I wrote this one while standing outside a club in the rain, feeling that specific kind of irritation when the night is moving faster than the people you're with. Everything felt hyper-vivid and kind of gross—the 'sugary sludge' on the sidewalk, the hiss of the bus brakes, and that bright red cigarette machine. We cut this in the studio with the intention of making it feel as frantic as I felt in that moment. I wanted the listener to feel the vibration of the band through the walls before they even get through the door. It’s about that raw, impatient hunger for the music to start and the frustration of being held back by a conversation that could have waited until tomorrow.
