The story — in my words

I wrote this song late one night when I was thinking about the transition between what we see and what’s next. I wanted to capture that split-second confusion of a soul that hasn't quite realized the rules of the physical world don't apply anymore. We cut this in a session where I kept telling the band to make it feel like stable ground was liquefying. When I hit the line about the dog not blinking and Mary Lou walking right through my chest, it felt less like a scary ghost story and more like a weary traveler finally realizing his luggage is too heavy for the next journey. It's about that 'neon grace'—the moment you stop trying to grab the porcelain tea cup and start looking toward the sunrise that never sets.
