The story — in my words

I wrote this on a Tuesday night while staring at a microwave clock that had been flashing 12:00 for three weeks. It’s funny how we let the small things break when we’re too overwhelmed to fix the big things. For a long time, I was terrified that if I didn't have a 'win' to share, I shouldn't call anyone at all. I was editing every sentence in my head before I spoke it, just trying to seem okay. We cut this in a small room with one microphone because I wanted you to hear the actual air in my lungs. It’s a song for anyone who has ever felt like they were screaming on the inside while staying perfectly silent at the dinner table.
