The story — in my words

I wrote this song at a time when I felt like the world was treating me like a bent nail. I was sitting in my kitchen with a cold cup of coffee, looking at an old iron latch on the door, thinking about all the things that tried to cage me in or break my spirit. A lot of people see a scar and think of a victim, but I wanted to write something that flipped that—a song where the scar is a monument of victory. We cut this in a session where I kept telling the band to make it feel like a heavy river that wouldn't stop for anything. It’s about that moment you realize you aren't just surviving the storm; you are the storm. It’s for anyone who's been erased and decided to show up anyway.
