The story — in my words

I wrote this one late at night when the pressure of being the 'steady one' finally started to feel like a cage. We were cutting tracks in a small studio during a massive thunderstorm, and the sound of the rain hitting the tin roof just bled into the mics, perfectly capturing that claustrophobic feeling of a family trying to hold it all together. I wanted to explore that specific kind of Southern stoicism—the man who hammers the boards while the bank's at the door and the sky is falling. It’s not always about bravery; sometimes it’s just about being too tired to run. We kept the rhythm section deep and heavy to mimic that thumping heart rate you get when you're trying to stay calm for everyone else.
