The story — in my words

I wrote this one after circling my own block for nearly an hour on a Tuesday night. We’ve all been there—that feeling where the air in the house is so thick with what hasn’t been said that you’d rather burn a half tank of gas than walk through the front door. I wanted the music to feel like that restless energy of a gravel road under your tires, so we tracked it with a driving, snappy beat that mirrors a racing heart. It’s funny how a kid can be the one to finally break the spell, which is why that third verse is so special to me. We cut the vocals in one take to keep that raw, honest grit. Sometimes you just need the scenic route to clear your head before you can actually face your life.
