The story — in my words
I wrote this one while sitting on the tailgate of my old Chevy, watching a storm roll in over the valley. I was thinking about that specific kind of paralysis you feel right before you make a life-changing move—that moment where you’re staring at the padlock on the gate, wondering if the grass is actually greener or just wilder. We cut the track in a single afternoon to keep that frantic, barefoot energy alive. I wanted the listener to feel the grit of the canyon dirt and the smell of bruised peaches in the heat. It’s not just about leaving a place; it’s about that desperate, beautiful fever to become a 'rambling sinner' and finally outrun the farmhouse lanterns. We let the river rise on this one and didn't look back.
