"Kentucky Street Bourbon" ©
by J. Michaels
The story — in my words
I wrote this one after spending a few too many Tuesday nights at a hole-in-the-wall joint where the neon hum was louder than the radio. I was in a real rut, just treading water and watching the clock, when a certain someone walked in and changed the entire chemistry of the air. We cut this track in a single afternoon session to capture that raw, unpolished heat. I wanted the guitars to feel a little bit dangerous, just like that first sip of top-shelf bourbon that goes down smooth but leaves a burn you can't forget. To me, this isn't just a song about a drink; it's about that moment someone drags you out of the shadows and makes the world look bright and damn near gold again.
