The story — in my words

I wrote this one while looking at a fence line that had seen better days, thinking about what it actually takes to hold onto something you love. We cut this in a session where I kept telling the band to make the rhythm section feel like boots hitting red dirt. It’s not just about a piece of property; it’s about that feeling when you realize the world is trying to chip away at your foundation and you decide to stop letting it happen. The 'iron gate' and the 'red clay' aren't just metaphors for me—they are the smells and textures of where I grew up. We wanted the guitars to sound as heavy as that oak timber, raw and unyielding, just like the people who refused to walk away when things got bleak.
