The story — in my words

I wrote this one while sitting on a porch in mid-July, watching the heat lightning over the distant fairground lights. I wanted to capture that specific electricity you only feel when you're young and the carnival comes to a quiet town. We cut this track with a heavy emphasis on that driving, rumbling beat to mimic the gears of the Tilt-A-Whirl and the clatter of the roller coaster tracks. It was all about bottled lightning—that feeling of sliding across a vinyl car seat with your steady girl while the world spins in neon colors. Every time I hear that opening rhythm, I’m right back under the old pavilion, smelling the sawdust and sugar, just trying to make that one perfect evening last forever.
