The story — in my words

I wrote this song at a time when I felt like the floor was falling out from under me. Life has a way of stacking up until you feel like you can't stand, and I realized that my partner was the only thing keeping my head above water. I stayed up late one night trying to capture that feeling—not just the romance, but the actual, physical feeling of being hoisted up by someone else's belief in you. When we tracked this in the studio, we really wanted to emphasize that transition from the 'weight of the world' in the verses to that soaring, weightless feeling in the chorus. It’s a thank-you note to the person who sees your spark even when you’re wandering in the dark.
