"Miss Jane" ©
by J. Michaels
The story — in my words
I wrote this after walking past a dilapidated Victorian in my neighborhood that everyone seemed to avoid. It sat there for years with this heavy, lonely energy, and I started thinking about the house as a person—Miss Jane. I imagined she wasn't actually scary, just forgotten and waiting for someone to notice her character again. When a young family finally bought the place and started stripping the old wallpaper and sanding the floors, the whole atmosphere of the street changed. I wanted to capture that feeling of a building 'waking up' and finding its heartbeat again. We cut this track with a bit of a driving rhythm to mimic that renovation energy, blending the spooky neighborhood legends with the very real, grounded love of a first home.
