My Back Against The Wall ©
by J. Michaels
The story — in my words
I wrote this during a time when I felt like I was physically and mentally moving in circles. We cut this in the studio late one night, and I wanted to capture that dizzying, almost hypnotic feeling of navigating the same city corners over and over. Every time I mention turning right onto Session Road or Park Road, it’s not just about the directions—it's about that feeling when your back is against the wall and the only thing you can do is keep moving, even if you're just retracing your steps. The repetition in the lyrics was intentional; I wanted the listener to feel the same sense of being trapped in a loop that I was feeling when the melody first hit me. It’s a raw, driving piece of my experience stripped down to the pavement.
