The story — in my words
I wrote this on a Sunday morning when the air felt particularly heavy with things left unsaid. I was sitting by the river wall, watching the water move, and I started thinking about how fragile our promises really are—literally like ink on a page. We cut the demo with just an acoustic guitar to keep that intimacy, trying to capture that specific sound of church bells carrying across a valley. The song is really about that desperate, tactile act of trying to turn a painful letter into something that can actually float. I wanted to describe the grass staining my jeans and the way your thumb feels smoothing out a crease because, in those moments, the physical world is all you have to hold onto while the person you love is halfway out the door.
