I wrote this song at a time when I felt like I was literally drowning in someone else’s mistakes. I was working myself to the bone, my hands actually sore from the grind, just to pay off a debt that wasn't even mine to begin with. You can hear that exhaustion in the opening lines about the 'six o'clock fire.' We tracked this in a way that felt heavy—like the instrumentation itself was the weight on my back. I wanted to capture that specific kind of desperation where you’re willing to trade your last dime just to get your soul back. It isn't just a song about money; it’s about the spiritual cost of being left behind to clean up a mess you didn't make.
