The story — in my words
I wrote this song sitting in a locker room, staring at the fluorescent lights and feeling completely drained of any fight I had left. I remember the smell of the salt and the cold sweat, and that specific rhythm of golf clubs hitting a door somewhere else in the building—that mundane sound while I was having this massive internal crisis. It's about that exact moment you decide you aren't going to be the man the winter killed. We cut the vocals raw to keep that feeling of white tape biting into skin and the heavy hinges finally groaning open. It’s for anyone who has been staring at a cracked ceiling wondering where their spark went, only to realize the sun was rising anyway.
