The story — in my words

I wrote this song when I felt like the world was closing in on us from every side. It felt like everyone had an opinion on our relationship, waiting for a crack to show or a mistake to be made. I remember sitting down and thinking about what it would feel like to just put the car in gear, tell the family goodbye, and leave all that drama in the rearview mirror for good. We cut this track with that specific energy of urgency—the feeling of crossing state lines at midnight when the only thing that matters is the person in the passenger seat. It’s for anyone who has ever felt suffocated by their surroundings and realized that home isn't a place, it’s a person. We rose above the noise, and this is our victory lap.
