The story — in my words
I wrote this one after a long night driving through the outskirts of Los Angeles, watching the lights flicker against the smog. I was thinking about the weight of the city and how some guys treat the pavement like a personal chessboard. It started with that line about the palm trees and the power lines humming—there’s a specific kind of tension in that California air that feels like a fuse waiting to be lit. We cut this track in a small studio near San Bernardino, tracking the guitars live to capture that raw, dangerous energy of the streets. It’s not just a song about crime; it’s about that desperate, wild code of survival you only find when your back is against the wall. We kept the tempo high because we wanted it to feel like a high-speed chase under a blood-red moon.
