The story — in my words

I wrote this one while thinking about those old-school girl group records where the singer isn't just a sweetheart—she's the boss. I was imagining this scene in a high-rise apartment on a freezing night, looking down at some guy shivering on the sidewalk. We cut this in the studio with that heavy, rhythmic bop because I wanted it to feel like a standoff. It’s not just a seasonal tune; it’s about a woman who knows her worth and isn't letting anyone through that 'fancy door' unless they’re coming correct. We had a blast with the vocal ad-libs and those 'shoo-bops' because it needed that playful, defiant energy. It’s my way of saying that even in the middle of a romantic winter night, respect is the real key to the house.
