The story — in my words

I wrote this song during a time when I felt physically and mentally trapped, like the walls were literally sweating along with me. I wanted to capture that visceral, claustrophobic sensation of 'rust and bone'—that metallic taste in your mouth when you’ve been held down too long. We tracked this in a space that felt just as cold as the lyrics, and I remember telling the band I wanted the percussion to sound like a dumpster bang in a dark alley. It’s not just about getting out; it’s about the friction of your feet hitting the pavement for the first time and the fire that starts when you finally stop choking on your own fear. It’s loud, it’s messy, and it’s meant to be played when you’re ready to burn the old version of yourself down.
