The story — in my words

I wrote this song while staring at a rusted fence line that had seen better days. It started as a simple observation about property and pride, but it grew into something much heavier. I was thinking about my granddaddy’s tools—the pliers, the wire, that heavy hammer—and how they represent more than just manual labor. We cut this track in a room that smelled like old wood and sweat, trying to capture that feeling of being pushed to your limit. It’s about the frustration of seeing people try to claim what they didn’t build and the quiet resolve of a man who’s decided he isn’t moving another inch. We wanted the guitars to feel as gritty as the red clay mud I’ve spent my life digging through.
