The story — in my words
I wrote this one while I was locked in a bathroom, literally staring at those cold fluorescent lights, feeling like the walls were closing in. I wanted to capture that specific, jagged rhythm of a panic attack—the way the humming of a light bulb can start to feel like a needle in your brain. It’s about that terrifying moment when you realize the person you’re most afraid of isn’t someone outside the door, but the version of yourself looking back in the steam of the mirror. We cut this with a heavy, driving pressure in the rhythm section because I wanted the listener to feel that same tightness in their chest that I felt writing it. It’s not an easy listen, but it’s the most honest I’ve ever been about my own shadow.
