The story — in my words

I wrote this one while sitting in a kitchen in San Antone, watching the sun hit a pile of unpaid bills and a cup of coffee that had gone stone cold. I realized I was spending all my energy fixing things that were never meant to stay whole. That line about the 'flickering roadhouse sign' was something I actually saw near the highway; it looked exactly how I felt—just a heart running out of time. We cut this track with the windows down, trying to capture that specific rattling energy of a truck hitting the interstate for the first time in years. It’s not just a song about leaving a place; it’s about finally giving yourself permission to stop rolling that stone uphill and just see where the wind takes you instead.
