by J. Michaels
The story — in my words
I wrote this one during a week where the 6:00 AM alarm felt particularly cruel. I was staring at the ceiling, still half-entwined in a dream that felt much more vibrant than the grey shift waiting for me at the office. We cut the track with a warm, late-night vintage feel to catch that blur between sleep and the sidewalk. It's a song for anyone who has to put on a mask and 'disguise' their heavy heart just to get through the workday, only to realized that the laughter waiting at home is the only currency that actually matters. I wanted to capture that specific feeling of being a 'hero' in your own mind while feeling completely unseen by the rest of the world as the sun comes up.
