The story — in my words
I wrote this one late at night while the blue light of the television was washing over the room. I was just flipping through the channels, and it felt like every single station was trying to sell me a different reason to fear my neighbor. It hit me how much profit is being made off our division, and I felt this desperate need to strip all those labels away. I wanted to capture that feeling of being caught in the middle of a storm but knowing that the shelter is actually found in each other. When we cut this, I wanted the music to feel like a steady hand reaching out through the noise. It’s my way of saying that despite what the headlines scream, our shared humanity is still the strongest thing we own.
