The story — in my words

I wrote this one after a long night staring at a reflection I didn't recognize. We cut the vocals in a room that felt as sterile as that locker room I describe, wanting to capture that specific 'fluorescent buzz' of coming down from a high. For a long time, I was chasing the 'roar'—that external validation we all crave—but I realized I was just burning through oxygen to hide from myself. This song is about that pivot point where you stop performing for the strangers in the stands and start trying to be a man you can actually stand beside. It’s about the copper taste of a split lip and the realization that the hardest person to beat is the one looking back at you in the scratched-up glass.
