Wreck Me Again ©
by J. Michaels
The story — in my words
I wrote this song late one night when I was thinking about how we inherit our fathers' ghosts without even realizing it. The imagery of the 'golden sounding ring' and the 'heavy metal habit' came from a very real place of feeling physically trapped by my own impulses. We cut this in a small room with the amps cranked just enough to feel that engine-block heat I mention in the lyrics. I wanted the listener to feel that claustrophobia of sitting in a parked car, staring at a door you know you shouldn't open, but you're already halfway out of the seat. It’s not just about a person; it’s about that cycle of wrecking yourself just to feel something familiar. It was a heavy session, but we captured that raw, desperate sweat.
