The story — in my words

I wrote this song when I felt boxed in by everyone’s expectations and the noise of people talking behind my back. I was imagining that tension of being under a 72-hour watch, just waiting for the clock to hit zero so I could finally show the world what I was actually holding inside. We tracked the guitars to feel like a countdown, getting more frantic as the hours in the lyrics drop from 36 down to 9 and finally to zero. It’s meant to be a middle finger to those who think they’ve got you figured out or labeled. When I hit that final line about being ready to have some fun, I wanted it to feel like a wildfire finally jumping the line. It's about that moment you stop playing small and start breaking the walls down.
