The story — in my words
I wrote this one for anyone sitting in a house that suddenly feels too quiet. I was thinking about the people we lose and how, if they could speak back to us, they wouldn't want us trapped in perpetual mourning. I wanted to write from the perspective of the one who passed—not as a ghost story, but as a gentle permission slip to keep living. We cut this in a way that feels like a conversation across the kitchen table. The line about not owing grief a thing is the heart of it for me. It’s my way of saying that moving forward isn't a betrayal of the past; it’s actually the greatest way to honor the love that’s still very much alive in the room.
